Kristen Powers has always had an interest in the Creative Arts. From New Jersey, where she grew up, to Richmond VA, Kristen attributes many of her talents and skills to the many great teachers, artists and experiences she has encountered along the way.
In 1993, Kristen started school at East Carolina University in North Carolina. There, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in Metals. While in college, she worked part time as a bench jeweler and spent her summers as a murals artist. She also took classes and worked as a teacher's assistant at the Penland School of Art near Asheville, North Carolina.
With a background in painting coupled with a great appreciation for color, Kristen has focused much of her jewelry making on brightly colored enamels. She also enjoys working with a variety of colored stones and metals. Many of her designs reflect her interests in the colors and the organic shapes of nature. Kristen has been designing jewelry for Dransfield Jewelers since 2000.
